50 Million Barrels

Ok, just having some fun.. A somewhat distorted view of two seafaring vessels. I had an idea to explore the size relationship between to similar objects and I can up with this painting. There is a gigantic red square in the center that over powers everything. Never the less it fun to paint and I actually like the subtle background colors.

Composition: 22 x 30 Arch 190 lb. watercolor paper. Acrylic

I have started to experiment with a slightly new medium, for me. Golden Acrylics has come out with a new slower drying paint that seems to match my painting style. I like to address a design with speed. Lay the pigment down and have the satisfaction of creating a new work in one high energy afternoon. Golden "ONE" allows me to get there. I would suggest this to anyone that paints fast and loose with little time for color analysis or design composition. Check this out and let me know what you think...

Rat Beach

Rat Beach is a secluded stretch of Southern California beach located where the Palos Verdes peninsula landmass connects with the West facing beach to form a quiet cove. There is alot of kelp and calm in this back water. I saw the afternoon light hit the shell cliffs that rise above the sand and that was my motivation to paint.

View Down Paseo

The view looking North up Paseo Del Mar epitomizes the Southern California beach community of Redondo Beach. It is a signature scene that I have painted many times, each time a new and unique version emerges. A densely populated coastline and the winding road on the edge of the beach.

Setting the Pole

Excitement and danger come with the job of the foredeck crew. "Setting the Pole" captures this intensity. Some call the foredeck of a racing yacht the zone of death. I've never heard of anyone getting killed on the foredeck, but you get the point.
I used an intence color saturation of Red,White and Blue. This is a spectacular piece with movement. Oil on canvas 24 x 24.
